Sight savers in Tanzania was introduced in Tanzania since the 1970s aiming to protect vision and prevent blind diseases. In 2021 we helped to carry out 11,000 eye operation in the country.
Sight savers have been working in the country since 1970s helping to support and strength local eye care system to cope blindly preventable.it also provide professional training to health workers, raise public awareness of the eye care and entice the government to ensure eye care is universal available.our main focus in Tanzania is to prevent and cure trachoma and provide cataract activities to those who need them. We also provide equal opportunities for people with disabilities in the society. Our vision is of the world where no one is blind since it can be avoided and where people with disabilities can share equally in the society.
We treat eye conditions such as cataracts and cope with debilitating diseases many of which cause loss in sight. In archiving this we cooperate with the governments and local in national and international partners to perform eye operations and provide treatments where they are needed.
