UNICEF Tanzania has adopted a new Gender Policy and Gender Action Plan 2022-2025, to advance gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in key areas of UNICEF’S work.

The gap sets out how UNICEF will promote gender equality in the agency’s work, based on the UNICEF strategic plan and supports achieving gender equality goals as outlined in the Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The priorities set for girls are the health and nutrition of young people; education and skills; prevention of child marriages and abuse; menstruation health and hygiene and social protection.

It also provides gender consideration in key outcomes in major areas of the labour sector eg health and nutrition; education; child protection; water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and Social Security (WASH) and describes a series of measures to establish more active opportunities for gender change in UNICEF, including providing family-friendly policies and achieving gender equality at all levels of service in the priorities and strategies of the UNICEF international programme, Tanzania Office of State (TCO) during a review of the middle yam of its current country programme and in preparing a new draft to be launched in July 2022, it took the techniques of the gender change program.
