Geita gold mining limited (GGML) is the only major gold producers in geita Tanzania. GGML is a subsidiary of Anglogold Ashanti, an international gold producer and they have headquarters in South Africa. Anglogold Ashanti works in more than ten countries in four continents. GGML is located in the Lake Victoria in northwestern Tanzania about 85 km from mwanza to 20 km southeast of Lake Victoria. Their main office is located in Geita just about 5 km west from Geita’s rapidly growing town. It also has a branch office in Dar es Salaam.
The company aims to bring sustainable development into the surrounding mine communities and has continuously archived it through government collaboration in improving community services like health,education, water supply, roads and other economic activities in the area.
The company has spent over 30 billion Tanzanian Shilling to support several social projects in collaboration with local authorities of Geita after the 2017 Mining law amendments.
