Muhimbili national hospital is the Tanzania based higher education and specialist hospital that is organized in nine workshops with a capacity of 2178 out of 1570 beds at Santa central hospital and 608 beds located in mloganzila center which is 23 kilometers away the central hospital.
Muhimbili national hospitalserves between 2000 to 3000 patients and 1500 to 2000 patients per day. The origin of muhimbili national hospital can be traced back in 1910’s to the 1920’sĀ by that time it was known as sewahaji hospital. Muhimbili hospital was founded by MNH ACT of parliament number 5of the year 2000 for the decomposition of the then muhimbili medical centre to enter the muhimbili national hospital and the muhimbili university of health and allied sciences (MUHAS). Now the muhimbili university of health and allied sciencies.
Their separation took place in november 2004. It has 2700 employees of which 300 are doctors and professionals, 900 registered and enrolled nurses and others are supporting staff activities. Muhimbili national hospital is organized into seven directorates which are clinical services, nursing and quality services.
