The e Government Authority (e -GA) was established under the e Government ActNo 10 of 2019 with an order to coordinate, Manage and promote e-Government programs and implement compliance with e government standards and Guidelines for public institutions
The passage of the e government Act came as a way to address the challenges encountered by e government agencies at the time in the areas of legal environment with the authority to oversee the repetition of ICT programs and Silovict systems promotion of systems sharing in public institutions and compliance with standards and guidelines to ensure better use of ICT for better public Service provision
Prior to the establishment of the government Agency network, its use in government was coordinate and oversee by the department of systems management (DMIS) in the Office of president , the Civil Service Management which is currently the department of Government of IT
